City of Las Cruces appoints Lesley Doyle as finance director

Lesley Doyle has been appointed as the new Finance Director for the City of Las Cruces. With over 25 years in governmental accounting and financial management, Doyle brings extensive experience to her new role.

Previously, she served as Chief Finance Officer for Deming Public Schools in New Mexico. Her career began at the City of Las Cruces, where she was a Public Services and Facilities Accountant. In this role, she prepared consolidated annual financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

In 2004, Doyle joined New Mexico State University (NMSU) as an Accountant III. She advanced through several positions there, including Cost Accounting Officer and Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting. At NMSU, she managed tasks such as preparing financial statements and overseeing fixed assets while ensuring compliance with governmental regulations.

Doyle started working at Deming Public Schools in 2017. During her tenure there, she managed the district’s budget and oversaw finance-related departments like cash management and payroll. She also played a key role in implementing school board policies.

Her educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Master of Business Administration from New Mexico State University.
