Nearly 800 students from Las Cruces and Doña Ana County are expected to attend the Plan My Future career exploration fair, organized by Las Cruces Public Schools (LCPS). The event will take place at the LCPS Field of Dreams, aiming to introduce middle and high school students to various career paths beyond college.

Scheduled for Thursday, February 27, the fair will be held in the west parking lot of the Field of Dreams at 2300 Tashiro Road. High school students can attend from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., while middle school students are welcome from noon to 2 p.m.

Kathleen Gardner, a career readiness and work-based learning teacher with LCPS, emphasized that "the success of Plan My Future is directly dependent on the businesses and organizations who lend their time to interact with students and teach them more about post-secondary career paths." In previous years, participants included building trades, media outlets, Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services, local law enforcement agencies, and other vocational industries. They provided live demonstrations in electrical work, heavy equipment operation, and other hands-on opportunities. This year’s event will also feature New Mexico State University along with military and other post-secondary organizations.

Businesses and industry partners interested in participating can reserve a space by contacting Kathleen Gardner via email at kgardner@lcps.net or by calling or texting (575) 640-3998. The deadline for reservations is Monday, February 24.
