Las Cruces police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Griggs Avenue and Hermosa Street. The incident involved a black Chevrolet Impala and a gold Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The crash happened around 3:20 p.m. on February 13, 2025. Preliminary investigation suggests that the Impala was traveling west on Griggs, while the Trailblazer was headed south on Hermosa. It appears that the Trailblazer ran a stop sign and was struck broadside by the Impala. Following the collision, the Trailblazer rotated and rolled over at least once.

The driver of the Trailblazer, a 24-year-old woman, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have stated they will not release her identity until her family has been notified.

The driver of the Impala, a 22-year-old woman, did not sustain serious injuries.

Traffic investigators are currently collecting evidence and mapping the scene, resulting in temporary blockage of the intersection.
