The OIR Group, hired by the City of Las Cruces in 2021 to audit the police department, will hold its second community outreach meeting on February 24. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Munson Senior Center, located at 975 S. Mesquite St., and is expected to last about two hours.

This meeting provides an opportunity for residents to engage with representatives from the OIR Group and learn about their services. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and share experiences or concerns in an open forum to help the OIR Group understand local policing issues.

Earlier on the same day, the OIR Group will present its seventh semi-annual report to City Council during a work session starting at 1 p.m. in Council Chambers, 700 N. Main St. The firm reviews Internal Affairs investigations into alleged misconduct within the Las Cruces Police Department and provides feedback on their findings' accuracy. These findings and recommendations are presented to City Council twice a year.
