Las Cruces police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on the evening of February 26, 2025. The incident took place around 8 p.m. on the 2100 block of Lynch Drive. Upon arrival, first responders found Justin Griffin, a 36-year-old man, unresponsive on the roadway.
Griffin had suffered at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are actively pursuing several leads in connection with this case. They urge anyone with information to contact the police at (575) 526-0795.
The OIR Group, which was hired by the City of Las Cruces in 2021 to audit the Las Cruces Police Department, is scheduled to hold its second community outreach meeting soon.
