April marks Safe Digging Month, emphasizing the importance of calling 811 before starting any digging projects. This initiative serves as a reminder for residents to contact New Mexico One Call for locating and mapping underground utilities.

To request a locate or inquire about requirements, individuals can reach out to New Mexico One Call toll-free at 811 or submit requests online via the New Mexico 811 website. It is necessary to provide a minimum of two full working days' notice. The normal operating hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding weekends and holidays.

In cases of emergency, New Mexico One Call processes requests around the clock by dialing 811. However, emergencies cannot be submitted through web entry. Locate requests should cover only the amount of work that can be completed within ten working days.

If confirmation is not received within three hours after submitting a request, there may be processing issues. In such instances, it is advised to contact New Mexico One Call at 800-321-2537 for assistance.
