Alexa Doig, the director of New Mexico State University's School of Nursing, has been appointed as the interim dean for the College of Health, Education and Social Transformation. Her appointment will be effective from April 11. This transition comes after the departure of Phillip Post, who is stepping down from his role as interim dean.
Doig expressed her enthusiasm about taking on this new responsibility. "I am honored to step in as interim dean at a time when our college is making great strides in education, research and community engagement," she stated. She further added, "It is a privilege to work alongside the HEST community to prepare for a new permanent dean and to continue the vital mission of our college."
With over seven years at NMSU as the director of the School of Nursing, Doig brings extensive experience to her new role. Before joining NMSU, she held a position as division chair at the University of Utah College of Nursing.
The search for a permanent dean is underway with expectations that an appointment will be made before the fall semester begins.
