The 2025 Tell the Story LCPS Film Showcase, a two-night event at the movies, recently spotlighted the talents of student filmmakers and journalists from various schools. Students, including writers, producers, directors, and actors, participated along with their film crews and student advisors. Families and APECHS students from the National Honor Society supported the participants on the red carpet with enthusiasm.
The event's theme was "Hollywood Glamour," and it featured three competition divisions for students of different grade levels. Elementary students participated in a 168-hour film competition, middle schoolers in a 98-hour contest, and high school students in a 48-hour challenge.
The evening began with red carpet arrivals before film screenings at 6, 7, and 8 p.m. Winners were announced following the 7 p.m. screening. Mia from Conlee Elementary and Zaydrien from Mesa Middle School, both student reporters, conducted interviews with filmmakers and winners on the red carpet.
The winners of the 2025 film showcase competitions were Sonoma Elementary with "Learn-a West" for the 168-hour category, Mesilla Valley Leadership Academy with "Stage Fright" in the 98-hour division, and Las Cruces High School's "The Magician’s Bluff" for the 48-hour contest.
The showcase encourages students to convey their stories, incorporating specific lines and props within tight time constraints. The student-produced films and broadcasts can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/@KRENStudios.
The event was supported by Roadrunner Rally, Allen Theatres – Cineport 10, and the LCPS Foundation.
