New Mexico State University (NMSU) announces its latest achievements with multiple rankings in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools for 2025. The NMSU Graduate School secured spots within the top 100 for its nurse anesthesiology and social work programs, ranking 80th and 95th respectively.

The rankings also highlighted other programs. Speech-language pathology and English tied at 120th, while earth sciences followed at 124th. Physics and mathematics tied for 125th. Further down the list, economics was at 126th, computer science at 133rd, and fine arts at 135th. The chemistry and part-time MBA programs were ranked 136th and 137th respectively.

Ranjit Koodali, dean of the Graduate School and associate provost for International Affairs, expressed his thoughts: “The inclusion of several graduate programs in U.S. News & World Report for 2025 is a recognition of the high quality of instruction by faculty and excellent support provided by staff." He added, “The rankings vary from one discipline to another and may not necessarily fully capture the efforts of NMSU centered towards affordability, accessibility and student success.”

Additionally, NMSU was recognized for its public affairs program, placed 144th, and its engineering school, which came in at 145th. Public health, psychology, biological sciences, and education programs were also ranked, landing at 168th, 180th, 203rd, and 210th respectively.

The 2025 U.S. News & World Report’s edition surveyed more than 7,000 degree-granting programs across over 1,100 universities, with NMSU being one of the over 800 institutions included in the annual survey.
