New Mexico State University's Department of Facilities and Services, in partnership with the NMSU Police, is launching an initiative to improve campus lighting. This project aims to deter criminal activities and facilitate navigation for students, faculty, and visitors.

Commencing on Friday, April 18, assessors will begin nighttime evaluations across the campus. One or two people in high-visibility vests will conduct measurements of numerous outdoor lighting fixtures. The objective is to gather data about lighting needs around the university buildings and grounds.

The initial phase of the assessment is expected to conclude in July, after which lighting upgrades recommended by the study will begin. These evaluations will continue to encompass all areas of the NMSU campus to plan further upgrades and improvements.

For inquiries or concerns, Robert Estrada can be contacted at robrada@nmsu.edu.
