The City of Las Cruces has announced the selection of Joaquin Murillo as the Deputy Director of Wastewater for Las Cruces Utilities. This promotion marks a significant advancement in Murillo's career, which began in the wastewater sector.

Murillo's career in wastewater management reflects a strong commitment and understanding of the field. He started in the Wastewater Line Maintenance program, completed a program at Dona Ana Community College in Water Technology, and then transitioned to Jacob Hands Wastewater Treatment Operations. Murillo gained valuable experience in plant process intricacies, leading to promotions to Assistant Plant Manager in 2021 and then to Plant Manager in 2023.

Since October 2024, Murillo has served as the Interim Deputy Director of Wastewater, where he demonstrated leadership and vision. His tenure included involvement in numerous capital improvement projects that enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of plant operations.

Murillo's promotion to Deputy Director of Wastewater underscores his hard work, experience, and dedication to providing excellent services to the community. He began his role as Deputy Director on March 23, 2025.
