Doña Ana County issued the following announcement on June 04.
Doña Ana County Chief Deputy Clerk Lindsey Bachman announced that all unofficial results have been tabulated and submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office. Unofficial totals for participation in this election include approximately 4,700 early voting in person voters, approximately 7,400 Election Day in person voters, and approximately 14,000 voters who cast absentee ballots. In total, total turnout for the 2020 Primary Election was approximately 26,000.
The county canvass for the 2020 Primary Election will take place tomorrow, Thursday, June 4th, at 9:00 a.m. at 2480 Lakeside Drive in Las Cruces. Doña Ana County saw a record high amount of voters voting via absentee in the 2020 Primary Election.
Pursuant to section 1-13-4 of the Election Handbook of the State of New Mexico, the Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office will conduct a canvass of results of the 2020 Primary Election. This check is a normal and valuable part of the election process in New Mexico, which takes place following each election and focuses on verifying precinct results.
“This election took place under extraordinary conditions, and in spite of concerns, our election officials and staff demonstrated great courage and rose to the occasion,” Chief Deputy Clerk Lindsey Bachman said. “They worked as a team to facilitate an election during a global pandemic and I am proud to have worked side by side with them.”
