Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on July 29.
As a result of many months of meetings, the City of Alamogordo, the Chamber of Commerce, and Alamogordo Public Schools are pleased to announce a joint effort to support local business. GB Oliver, Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Brian Cesar, City Manager of Alamogordo, and Jerrett Perry, Superintendent of Alamogordo Public Schools came together over the past several weeks, and again today, July 29, 2020, to discuss the future of Alamogordo and its businesses. After today’s meeting they are pleased to announce a joint effort to speak to and support local business however the Chamber and City can. This will start with a survey that will be out by the end of the week, targeted at the 500 businesses that make up the membership or the Chamber of Commerce. The goal of the survey is to understand how business is hurting during the Covid-19 crisis, and specifically how the Chamber and City can help.
Additionally, Mr. Oliver, Mr. Cesar, and Mr. Perry will continue their ongoing conversation with Representative Xochitl Torres Small to discuss how federal dollars can best support local business in Otero County within the next week. They will keep these discussions going over the next several weeks in order to facilitate discussion on the best ways to help bolster business in Alamogordo.
Brian Cesar said, “There is nothing more important to Alamogordo than the health and safety of our citizens. To that end, we must also acknowledge that the economy plays an enormous role in the health and safety of our citizens, and right now our economy is hurting. Alamogordo was enjoying prosperity before Covid-19, and it is of vital importance that we do everything we can to get our economy back on track to ensure the success of Alamogordo for many years to come. The City, the Chamber, and Alamogordo Public Schools are committed to listening to business and doing everything we can do to support business while still keeping the citizens of Alamogordo safe.”
Please watch for the survey to be announced this week from the City, the Chamber, and Alamogordo Public Schools.
