Rep. Gabe Vasquez, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing New Mexico's 2nd district, expressed his thoughts on several significant issues via social media. A series of posts, dated from April 1 to April 3, 2025, detail his concerns and proposals regarding retirement security, tariffs, and military resources. Vasquez's advocacy reflects his ongoing commitment since taking office in 2023, succeeding former Congress member Yvette Herrell.

On April 1, 2025, Vasquez shared his interaction with CHCI fellows, focusing on expanding retirement security for Latino workers. He highlighted, "Today, I spoke with @CHCI fellows about the urgent need to expand retirement security for Latino workers. Too many are shut out of savings plans, leaving them vulnerable in their later years. We must build a future where every worker can retire with dignity."

A day later, on April 2, 2025, Vasquez conveyed his concern about the economic impact on New Mexicans, stating "Tariffs will make everything more expensive for New Mexicans."

Continuing his engagement with pressing issues, on April 3, 2025, Vasquez criticized the use of military bases for migrant detention. He remarked that such actions divert resources from national security missions. He asserted "Using military bases for migrant detention takes resources away from the real mission — protecting national security and stopping fentanyl at the border. We should be investing in security, not taking resources from our troops."
