CITY OF OF ALAMOGORDO: Keep Alamogordo Beautiful Volunteer Opportunity

Announcement

City of Alamogordo issued the following announcement on Aug. 20. 

On Saturday, August 29th from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Keep Alamogordo Beautiful (KAB) will be hosting a beautification project at the Griggs Sports Complex (corner of Florida Ave. & Fairgrounds Rd.) fields 5, 6, 7, and 8. KAB is looking for volunteers to paint dugouts, backstops, foul polls, score boards, and the press box. KAB will supply the paint, brushes, rollers and covers, sunscreen, and Gatorade. Supplies of roller handles and painting polls are limited, volunteers are invited to bring their own if they wish. Fatwood Barbeque is sponsoring lunch, while supplies last, and Trisha Roberts Agency, Farmers Insurance, will be providing water

Volunteers are asked to practice social distancing, and to follow all current New Mexico public health orders. A volunteer check-in tent will be set up. Results of the Great American Cleanup Event at Monte Vista Cemetery on August 8, 2020

• 69 volunteers signed in

• Approximately 3,225 pounds of wet weeds and debris were collected

• Total value of volunteer time: $15,792.03

• In-Kind Donations valued at: $498.85

• Cost/Benefit Ratio: $11.66 (this means for every dollar that was spent by the City of Alamogordo between

employee costs, brush hog rental, etc., KAB gave back $11.66 in volunteer services.
