Sierra County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Vincent Apodaca was notified of a missing 14-year-old female, who had run away from home on January 5th 2022, by Sierra County Regional Dispatch Authority. Information was obtained and relayed by Truth or Consequences Police Officer Zachary Zavala, the female subject was believed to be with James Pollock a 37-year-old male who had multiple outstanding felony warrants for his arrest, in a white Chevrolet Cobalt passenger vehicle. Further information obtained showed the subjects were possibly located in the Arrey New Mexico area.

As Sgt. Apodaca was in route to the Arrey area to look for the subjects, he observed a white Chevrolet Cobalt east bound on S. Broadway St, in Williamsburg. Recognizing the vehicle, Sgt. Apodaca turned around and engaged his emergency lights to stop the vehicle, but it continued east bound on S. Broadway St. The car then abruptly tuned south onto Hyde St, and accelerated to flee from Sgt. Apodaca. Sgt. Apodaca then engaged his emergency siren and initiated a pursuit with the vehicle. The vehicle fled south on Hyde St, and turned east onto Veater St, the vehicle then continued fleeing Sgt. Apodaca on Veater St, reaching speeds of 60 mph. The vehicle then turned north onto Mercury St and continued to S. Broadway St, where it turned east. The vehicle then turned north onto Morgan St, where it reached speeds of 90mph. At a sharp turn on Morgan St, the vehicle was unable to negotiate the turn and left the roadway, going across the field and down a large hill, going across the desert, before coming to a stop.

Truth or Consequences Police Officers Kacy Frazier and Zachary Zavala, who had responded to assist Sgt. Apodaca, located the vehicle in the desert, and found the 14-year-old female in the passenger seat. The driver had fled the vehicle on foot. After searching the area, Sgt. Apodaca with assistance from the Truth or Consequences Police Department, established a perimeter, and called the U.S. Border Patrol for assistance with a K-9. Upon the arrival of Border Patrol, the K-9 tracked the driver to an area in the desert, and Sgt. Apodaca located James Pollock, hiding next to some brush, and took him into custody.

During a tow inventory of the white Chevrolet Cobalt, Sgt. Apodaca recovered Suboxone a controlled substance, and other evidence related to an ongoing Truth or Consequences Police Department investigation. Sgt. Apodaca notified the Truth or Consequences Police Department of the evidence he located and secured the vehicle for a search warrant for the Police Department.

On March 17th 2022 Sgt. Apodaca was contacted by the owner of the white Chevrolet Cobalt, and learned the vehicle had been reported stolen in Tucson Arizona.
