The Las Cruces Police Department is set to address quality-of-life issues through a citywide initiative on April 10, 2025. The Community Outreach unit is planning to collaborate with local businesses to tackle issues such as vandalism, trespassing, and abandoned shopping carts.
Business owners or managers facing these challenges are advised to reach out either by emailing [email protected] or by commenting on LCPD’s Facebook page before 9 a.m. on the day of the event.
In other community news, the Las Cruces Utilities Internship Program is offering opportunities for students pursuing degrees in fields like Water Technology. Additionally, the local Parks and Recreation Department is hosting hiking and walking events throughout April and May.
April marks Safe Digging Month, reminding residents to call 811 for assistance with locating and mapping services. The city encourages responsible water use through the Lush and Lean program aimed at optimizing limited resources.
The implementation of a new latch for trash carts by the City of Las Cruces Utilities Department will begin in 2025. Moreover, the Las Cruces Public Libraries will host a series of poetry discussions known as Palabras y Artesanias with sessions focusing on topics like Ancestry and Identity.
Residents are also reminded to schedule safety checks for their heating systems in preparation for colder weather. Meanwhile, a minimum wage increase, as mandated by the Las Cruces Municipal Code, took effect on January 1, 2025.
