September 15, 1997, is an important date, worldwide, as that is the date on which Google.com was registered. It was also a memorable day here in Doña Ana County, as William “JR” Ellis joined our DAC family as a Mapper Technician in the Assessor’s Office.
He later became a Mapping Specialist and then a Title Examiner. He was promoted to GIS Mapping Specialist in 2008. In 2017, he transferred to the Community Development Department as a GIS Mapper Analyst, where he currently works.
JR brought a wealth of knowledge from his experience working with the Assessor’s Office for the previous 20 years and immediately became a member of the team who shared his knowledge with the Planning staff, which helped everyone with their daily work.
He quickly learned the process to manage Claims of Exemption applications and became the primary point of contact for them, just in time for an upsurge in land divisions. He also took the initiative to expand his knowledge by learning the subdivision process and the ordinance requirements, which he took on, in addition to his GIS Analyst work, to help current planners.
JR is especially good at working with the public and enjoys going above and beyond to help figure out ways to help resolve issues constituents may encounter in their land development projects.
Congratulations to JR Ellis for 25 years of service to the residents of Doña Ana County!
