The City of Las Cruces is actively supporting residents in their career pursuits through various workforce development programs. These initiatives, which include skills training and job placement services, aim to create a strong and resilient workforce for the future.

Residents can explore apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs offered in collaboration with the city. Information on these opportunities can be found on the Workforce Development Page.

In addition to these programs, the city will host its Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony from 6-8 p.m. on December 7, 2024, at Plaza de Las Cruces downtown. The event provides an opportunity for community engagement during the winter season.

For safety measures during winter, residents are encouraged to schedule their Pilot Relight and Safety Check ahead of cold weather. Services can be arranged by contacting the city directly.

The City of Las Cruces will also conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Keep Las Cruces Beautiful program within the Triviz/I-25 tunnel. This event celebrates a newly completed mural that is now ready for public viewing.

City offices will close in observance of Veterans Day on November 11, 2024, though emergency services such as police and fire departments will remain operational.

Changes to dog park rules are underway, and resident input is sought through an available survey. Additionally, since 1995, volunteers have organized the annual Veterans Day Parade to honor local veterans.

According to the Las Cruces Municipal Code (LCMC), there will be an increase in minimum wage effective January 1, 2025.

The Lush and Lean program continues to guide residents in efficient water usage through garden and landscape maintenance practices suited for limited water resources.

An invitation is extended for a groundbreaking ceremony at Peachtree Canyon Apartments on October 10, 2024. This new development promises affordable housing with its planned 144 units located at Peachtree Hills' corner.

Lastly, Pumpkin Palooza returns to Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center from 4-7 p.m. on October 5, 2024. More information about this event is available upon inquiry.
