The New Mexico State University Foundation is preparing for GivingTuesday 2024, scheduled for December 3. This annual event invites NMSU Aggie alumni and students nationwide to support the university's mission. The initiative takes place each year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, aiming to assist students by funding scholarships, providing aid to those in need, and creating new educational opportunities.
GivingTuesday began in 2012 as a day dedicated to encouraging good deeds. It has since evolved into a global movement that inspires millions worldwide to give and collaborate. Last year, the NMSU Foundation raised over $300,000 with contributions from more than 450 students and alumni globally. This year's target is to increase donor participation to 600.
“GivingTuesday is our annual reminder to give back with gratitude, helping provide the vital support needed to make a meaningful impact on our students and community,” stated Patrick Stewart, vice president of philanthropy and alumni relations at NMSU. “This year, the NMSU Foundation is spotlighting nine impactful programs, each designed to help Aggies turn their dreams into reality and build a brighter future for all.”
Donations can be made starting November 6 through GiveCampus, a platform used by nonprofit educational institutions for secure transactions. Contributions are tax-deductible and can be directed towards various programs via https://nmsufoundation.org/givenow/web-givingtuesday.
Highlighted programs this year include the Aggie Athletic Club, College of Agricultural Consumer and Environmental Sciences Rodeo program, Honors College Dean’s Excellence Fund, among others. However, donors have hundreds of options across university initiatives including student services and athletics.
