The Parks and Recreation Department's Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program (KLCB) is organizing a Neighborhood Dumpster Day on Saturday, January 11, 2025. The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon.

KLCB will provide open-top trash containers for the community to dispose of yard waste, household trash, and other permitted items free of charge. Staff from KLCB will be present to offer support, program information, and guidance on what can be discarded in the containers.

The open-top container locations are as follows:

- East Mesa Recreation Center, 5589 Porter Drive

- Young Park, 850 S. Walnut Street

- Intersection of Motel Boulevard/Westway Avenue, 674 N. Motel Boulevard

Certain items are prohibited from being disposed of in the solid waste containers. These include medical waste (as per section 20.9.8.8 NMAC of the New Mexico Environmental Protection regulations), hot ashes or coals, tires or any vehicle parts including car batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, large yard waste items such as stumps or trunks, concrete, bricks or rocks, toxic, combustible or hazardous materials, toilets or sinks, refrigerators or anything containing refrigerant, and animal carcasses.

Locations with open-top containers will be monitored by staff members. Residents are responsible for unloading their own items.

For more information about the event or guidelines on permissible items for disposal, residents can contact the Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program at 575/528-4506 or via email at [email protected].
