The New Mexico School Nurse Association (NMSNA) is once again recognizing outstanding school nurses and individuals who contribute to the health and well-being of students in New Mexico. Through its annual awards program, the association aims to highlight excellence in school nursing, acknowledge significant contributions to student health, and celebrate community impact.

Las Cruces Public Schools (LCPS) is calling on parents, staff, or students to nominate a school nurse for one or more of the following awards:

- School Nurse of the Year Award: This award honors a school nurse who exemplifies excellence in care, professionalism, and dedication to students.

- School Nurse Administrator of the Year Award: This accolade recognizes a leader with exceptional administrative skills and advocacy for school nursing practice.

- Marlene McDowell Distinguished RN Service Award: Celebrates a registered nurse with a history of distinguished service in school nursing.

- Horizon Award: Acknowledges a novice school nurse demonstrating exceptional practice and leadership potential.

- Recognition Award: Open to school nurses or individuals completing a special project significantly impacting school nursing practices. Health assistants are also eligible for this award.

- Community Service Award: Recognizes an individual or organization promoting the health of New Mexico’s school children.

“This is your opportunity to shine a spotlight on the exceptional school nurses and healthcare champions who make a difference in the lives of our students every day,” said Shawna Bailey, LCPS Director of Health Services.
