The City of Las Cruces has announced the appointment of Chris Faivre as the new Community Development Director. Faivre brings 24 years of experience in municipal government, focusing on leadership, economic development, and strategic planning. His previous roles include Director of Marketing for Visit Las Cruces, Business Development Administrator, and Deputy Director of Economic Development.
Faivre has played a significant role in advancing several key initiatives. These include the establishment of Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas, efforts to increase the Gross Receipts Tax for public safety and infrastructure, and the adoption of Realize Las Cruces—an update to the City's land use code aimed at improving urban planning and departmental efficiency.
He holds a master’s degree in Communications and is recognized for his ability to simplify complex policies into actionable plans that benefit both residents and businesses.
As Community Development Director, Faivre will manage Community Planning, Building Safety, permitting and inspections. He aims to guide the City’s development efforts in line with its long-term vision.
“I am honored to serve as Community Development Director and look forward to working alongside our talented team to support sustainable growth, improve planning processes, and foster strong partnerships with our community,” said Faivre.
Faivre will officially begin his new role on March 9, 2025.
