Sierra County issued the following announcement on April 30.
New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) confirmed one individual tested positive for COVID-19 in Sierra County. “We have been planning and training for this day since the first cases of Coronavirus were discovered in New Mexico. Emergency Management, health care facilities, and emergency services have been working with the DOH and State Emergency Management on a daily basis in anticipation of this day”, said County Manager Bruce Swingle. The DOH will investigate and track this case and determine if others may have been in contact with the virus.
The state has 3,213 cases of Covid-19 according to the NM Health Website, while 65,085 tests have been performed. We had 2 new deaths on Wednesday, raising the state total to 112. 163 people remain hospitalized with COVID-19, while 734 people have recovered. Hot zones remain Bernalillo, McKinley, Sandoval, Dona Ana and San Juan counties. One positive case has been reported in Sierra County.
