Sierra County issued the following announcement on May 29.
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Thursday announced the state’s emergency public health order will be amended to permit Restaurants indoor dine-in service at 50% of maximum occupancy. Also opening, Hair Salons, Barbershops, Tattoo Parlors, Message Services, and Nail Salons can open at 25% by appointment only; Indoor malls can open at 25%; Gyms can open at 50%; and Hotels can open at 50%. All this will happen Monday, June 1st, 2020.
According to a press release from Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources, Elephant Butte Lake State Park will also open on Monday, June 1st, 2020 for day use only. Overnight use and campgrounds remain closed and all events through June 19th have been canceled. In addition, there will be capacity limits at many reopened State Parks.
The state has 7,364 positive cases of Covid-19 according to the NM Health Website, there have been 183,544 tests performed. 6 additional deaths yesterday raising the total to 335 statewide all having underlying medical conditions. 93% of the COVID-19 deaths in New Mexico have occurred in (4) counties (San Juan, Bernalillo, McKinley, and Sandoval counties). 196 currently remain hospitalized, while 2,684 people have fully recovered. 805 tests have been performed in Sierra County with only one positive case of COVID-19 being reported.
