Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) should never be placed in your trash or recycle bins at home. These types of products can easily ignite, burn or explode and must be disposed of properly. A fire in a truck trailer can also happen when flammables or hot coals from fires are left in your household trash bin. When loads catch fire, it’s a huge risk for the driver and others nearby. Make sure that hot ashes are completely cooled before disposal. Ashes that are not mixed with water can still contain a spark to light up a load. Batteries in your trash bin can also explode and set a whole trailer on fire.
