Gabe Vasquez, the U.S. Representative for New Mexico’s 2nd District, has shared a series of messages on social media addressing economic concerns and legislative actions that have recently affected his constituents. Vasquez, who assumed his Congressional role in 2023 following Yvette Herrell, commented on financial challenges and described efforts to address bureaucratic issues faced by individuals in his area.
In an April 5 tweet, Rep. Gabe Vasquez expressed concerns over the economic policies of the current administration, stating that “Americans are furious their retirement accounts are going up in smoke and their college savings accounts are being wiped out — the President's reckless disregard for our economy and the middle class is beyond comprehension.”
On April 7, Vasquez highlighted a successful intervention by his office in resolving an immigration paperwork issue. He noted, “When a constituent’s work authorization card had an error, USCIS delays made fixing it a nightmare. My office stepped in and quickly got them a new, corrected card! If you’re facing issues with immigration paperwork, we’re here to help!”
In a tweet made on April 8, Vasquez discussed his advocacy for New Mexico families reliant on SNAP during a House Agriculture Committee hearing. He emphasized the necessity of protecting SNAP, saying, “we must protect this vital program that ensures access to nutritious food for those in need.”
