The Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship, situated at New Mexico State University’s Arrowhead Center, and Startup Chihuahua have announced a partnership to conduct a series of training sessions on angel investing. These sessions are aimed at members of the Borderplex and Chihuahua City region.
The Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship aims to expand the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region by empowering diverse groups to explore entrepreneurship. The center also focuses on educating students to bring innovative products and services to commercial markets, while increasing access to early-stage investment.
The first training session, titled “Venture Forward: Navigating the World of Angel Investing,” is scheduled for May 22. This virtual master class will feature a fireside chat with Drew Tulchin, president of New Mexico Angels. Participants will learn about angel investing basics and key strategies from an experienced investor.
Carlos Murguia, director of the Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship, expressed his excitement about the partnership with Startup Chihuahua. He emphasized that angel investing is not just capital but also fuel for innovation in their region. He added that empowering local investors with knowledge and resources sets the stage for groundbreaking developments across the Borderplex and Chihuahua City.
The second training session, “Investment Immersion,” is slated for July 11-13. This in-person multi-day summit will delve into various aspects of angel investing, including due diligence, portfolio construction, valuations, and management. In collaboration with Sun Cruces Angels, programming will feature workshops, round tables, networking opportunities and pitch presentations by Borderplex startup founders.
Andres Guzman, director of Startup Chihuahua underscored the importance of this initiative. He stated that informed and engaged angel investors play a crucial role in nurturing entrepreneurial spirit and catalyzing economic growth. Guzman further noted that they are building a robust ecosystem where innovation thrives on both sides of the border.
