The Las Cruces Veterans Day Parade, now in its 28th year, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The event will begin at 11 a.m. in downtown Las Cruces. This year's theme is "Honoring Veteran First Responders."
The parade will start at the corner of Main Street and Lohman Avenue. It will proceed north on Main Street to the roundabout near City Hall before heading south on Water Street back to the starting point. A reviewing stand will be set up at the intersection of Main Street and Las Cruces Avenue, where opening ceremonies and presentation of medals to the Grand Marshals are planned for 10:30 a.m.
To mark the start of the parade, a cannon will be fired near the reviewing stand. Organizers have advised those with sensitive hearing that blanks will be used in the cannon, which serves only as an announcement signal.
Road closures for the event will begin at 6 a.m., affecting Main Street and nearby streets feeding into the parade route. Parking options include lots south of El Paso Electric, Doña Ana County Judicial Complex, Thomas Branigan Library, City Hall, and several other locations east of downtown between Main Street and Church Street.
