New Mexico State University (NMSU) has honored Andrea Arrigucci with the “A” Mountain Staff Award. Arrigucci, a senior program specialist at the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM), was recognized for her embodiment of NMSU’s core values: leadership, excellence, access, diversity and inclusion, and student-centered focus. The award was presented during the university's Employee Appreciation Picnic on October 31.

Arrigucci expressed her commitment to supporting students and alumni as they embark on their career journeys. “I want to be an ally for prospective and current students of any area of study or alumni navigating their first career steps,” she stated. She also emphasized her dedication to collaboration with colleagues at NMSU.

As an alumna of NMSU herself, Arrigucci focused on diversity and inclusion throughout her master’s program. She is dedicated to providing valuable service in these areas through her work. “It is important to me to lead by example and provide students a safe space to figure out the big decisions in front of them," she said.

In her role at HRTM, Arrigucci focuses on service and elevating partnerships within the industry and community through marketing, research, and outreach. Since completing her master’s degree in 2023, she has taught a professional development course each spring semester. “I appreciate the freedom to be creative with my work," she remarked.

Arrigucci acknowledged the mentorship she received from HRTM faculty members Jean Hertzman and Anne Hubbell. Hertzman praised Arrigucci’s dedication: “Andrea is a proud HRTM alumni and devoted Aggie,” she said.

Reflecting on her experience working with students, Arrigucci shared that it is both rewarding and enjoyable. “Above everything else, getting to mentor and work with students, now even teaching a course, is more rewarding than I ever imagined,” she said.
