The Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship at New Mexico State University is set to host the Hult Prize on February 27. This marks the first time the prestigious competition will take place at NMSU, spotlighting civil engineering students with innovative ideas in construction technologies.

Leveraged through the Mike Hunt Construction Sprints program, this year's event aims to address global challenges while fostering entrepreneurship and creating social impact within the field of construction. The Hult Prize, often referred to as the Nobel Prize for students, encourages young innovators worldwide to create startups that align with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Participants have access to mentorship and funding, competing for a $1 million seed investment.

Carlos Murguia, director of the Hunt Center, stated: "We are committed to equipping our civil engineering students with the tools, funding and hands-on experiences they need to innovate and lead in the construction industry." He emphasized that through programs like Mike Hunt Construction Sprints, students can tackle real-world challenges with cutting-edge solutions.

The winning team from NMSU will advance to a national event in Boston with expenses covered. There they will compete against top startups from U.S. universities for a chance to join a digital incubator program and qualify for the Hult Prize Global Accelerator near London. At this accelerator, six teams globally will pitch their ventures before distinguished judges.

Dana Catron of Arrowhead Center remarked: "Providing civil engineering students with a robust platform...isn't just about bridging academia and industry—it’s about empowering them to reimagine the future of construction."

Student teams interested in participating must submit applications by February 15. Free tickets are available online for those wishing to attend.

For more information on participation or attending, contact Carlos Murguia or visit NMSU's Arrowhead Center website.
