The Las Cruces Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in identifying those responsible for the shooting death of Benjamin Uribe, which occurred in July 2024.
Crime Stoppers of Las Cruces-Doña Ana County has announced a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the identification of the suspect or suspects involved.
On July 17, 2024, at approximately 2 p.m., police responded to an incident on the 900 block of South Melendres Street where a vehicle had crashed. The vehicle rolled through several yards before stopping with its driver, Benjamin Uribe, trapped inside. Investigations revealed that Uribe had been shot before the crash and succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives have identified a silver or gray four-door sedan as potentially linked to the crime. The vehicle's images were captured by surveillance cameras, although its make and model remain unknown.
