The Parks and Recreation Department's Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program (KLCB) is organizing a Neighborhood Dumpster Day on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon.

During this event, KLCB will provide open-top trash containers for community members to dispose of yard waste, household trash, and other permitted items at no cost. Staff from KLCB will be present to offer support, program information, and guidance on the types of items that can be disposed of in the containers.

The locations for the open-top containers are as follows: Henry R. Benavidez Community Center at 1045 McClure Road, Young Park at 850 S. Walnut Street, and Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center at 304 W. Bell Avenue.

Certain items are not allowed in the solid waste containers based on New Mexico Environmental Protection regulations section 20.9.8.8 NMAC. These include medical waste, hot ashes or coals, tires or any vehicle parts including car batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, large yard waste such as stumps or trunks, concrete bricks or rocks, toxic combustible or hazardous materials, toilets or sinks, refrigerators containing refrigerant, and animal carcasses.

The locations with open-top containers will be monitored during the event and residents are responsible for unloading their own items.
