Las Cruces firefighters responded to a structure fire initially reported as a brush fire on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on January 23, 2025, in the 400 block of N. Melendres.
Upon arrival, the fire crews found heavy flames emanating from a shed in the backyard and another building. The firefighters managed to control the blaze within 15 minutes, successfully preventing any damage to nearby properties.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire and the estimated loss are currently under investigation.
