Las Cruces firefighters responded to a structure fire on Second Street early Friday morning. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on January 24, 2025, when crews were dispatched to the 500 block of Second Street. Upon arrival, they found heavy fire engulfing a single-story house.

Five individuals, including two men, two women, and a child, were assisted away from the residence. The fire was controlled in less than 30 minutes but left significant fire and smoke damage to the structure.

Two residents sustained burns and received medical attention at a local hospital. Fortunately, no firefighters were injured during the operation. The American Red Cross has been called in to assist with temporary accommodations for those displaced by the fire.

The cause of the blaze and an estimate of damages remain under investigation.
