The City of Las Cruces and Las Cruces Public Schools have announced a new partnership to honor students who demonstrate outstanding character. The initiative, named "Thrive with Cariño," merges two community programs: "Thrive" from the school district and "Cariño" from the city.

The Thrive program focuses on creating an environment for student success, while the Cariño program emphasizes city employees' commitment to community care. Starting in February 2025, students embodying these values will be recognized. Honorees from elementary, middle, and high schools will receive certificates, be featured on social media, and receive special t-shirts.

Students from Booker T. Washington Elementary, Hermosa Heights Elementary, Lynn Middle School, and Centennial High School will be among the first recognized. The Mayor of Las Cruces and the Superintendent of Las Cruces Public Schools will participate in honoring these students.

This initiative highlights the importance of character education and community involvement, encouraging academic and personal growth.
