Patricia Monk, a senior entomology research assistant at New Mexico State University's Agricultural Science Center at Artesia, has co-authored over 25 research publications and delivered 200 presentations on insect pest management. Her work primarily focuses on biological control in major crops across New Mexico.

Monk collaborates with Jane Pierce, Ph.D., on projects examining resistance to Bt protein and insecticides among pests in the region. She has been part of NMSU for 25 years since relocating from Rhode Island with her husband, Jim. The couple has a daughter named Makayla.

In addition to her research, Monk serves as treasurer for the Yucca CowBelles and Woolgrowers. She founded the Zia Dairy Clinic and Show five years ago to support New Mexico youth interested in dairy cattle showing. Furthermore, she runs Made to Lather, a small business offering handmade bath and body products designed for dry skin, addressing a common issue in southeastern New Mexico's arid climate.
