The Las Cruces International Film Festival (LCIFF) will honor Academy Award-winning actress Helen Hunt with the "Outstanding Achievement in Entertainment" award at its upcoming event. The festival, now in its 10th year, is scheduled to take place from April 9-13 and is supported by New Mexico State University and Visit Las Cruces.

Hunt will receive her award during the LCIFF VIP Party following a special screening of her acclaimed film "As Good As It Gets" on Thursday, April 10. The screening will be held at Allen Theatres Cineport 10, located at 700 S. Telshor Blvd. A question-and-answer session with Hunt will follow the screening. Tickets for this celebrity event are priced at $35, while VIP tickets for the awards ceremony are available for $200 through the festival's website.

Ross Marks, executive director of LCIFF and professor at NMSU’s Creative Media Institute, expressed his admiration for Hunt's work: "Helen Hunt is an extraordinary actress with incredible range. She has excelled in comedy, drama and everything in between." He further stated that her achievements both as an actress and behind the camera make her a fitting honoree for the festival's milestone year.

Hunt's career includes winning an Oscar for Best Actress for "As Good As It Gets," along with a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for the same role. Her television work on "Mad About You" earned her multiple Emmy Awards and Golden Globes. Currently, she is working on a film with Dustin Hoffman directed by Peter Greenaway.

Previous recipients of this prestigious award include notable figures such as Ron Perlman, Giancarlo Esposito, William H. Macy, Danny Trejo, Brendan Fraser, George Lopez, Cybill Shepherd, Richard Dreyfuss, and Edward James Olmos.

This year's festival will feature over 100 films from around the world including narrative features, documentaries, short films, animations, and music videos from 50 countries. All events will take place at Allen Theatres Cineport 10. Ticket options include VIP passes for $200, All-Access Passes for $100, Day Passes for $35, and admission to celebrity screenings also priced at $35.

A special offer on discounted VIP passes will be available exclusively at the LCIFF Poster Party on March 7 at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum.

Marks founded LCIFF ten years ago alongside teaching a course on producing film festivals to NMSU students who gain practical experience each year through their involvement in organizing this significant cultural event which attracts thousands of attendees annually.
