The New Mexico State University (NMSU) Foundation has announced an opportunity for NMSU employees and student organizations to participate in the 1888 Minutes of Giving campaign. This initiative is part of the Founders Day celebrations scheduled for April 22.
Eligible organizations and faculty can apply to feature a dedicated fund on the GiveCampus crowdfunding platform during the event, aiming to attract donor support. "Being able to raise funds for the students who take part in our rodeo team has been a real gift," stated Brice Baggarley, head coach of the NMSU rodeo team. He highlighted how these efforts help students manage expenses while competing at high levels across the country.
The campaign will run from 10 a.m. on April 22 until 5:28 p.m. on April 23, spanning exactly 1,888 minutes in honor of the university's founding year. The foundation invites submissions of fundraising goals via a general survey available at http://bit.ly/40GOZbq, with completion required by March 31.
First launched in 2024 as part of Founders Day, the campaign aims to honor NMSU’s founders and celebrate ongoing contributions by faculty and staff toward advancing the university’s land-grant mission. With a target set at $188,888, it supports initiatives like Aggie Cupboard, Aggies Go Global, and the rodeo team.
Moreover, NMSU faculty, staff, and retirees have an opportunity to establish a Cornerstone Endowment for funding endowed scholarships. For assistance or more information about this option or other aspects of the campaign, interested parties can contact the NMSU Foundation development office at 575-201-9023.
The portal for participation opens on March 25 at 1888minutesofgiving.org. Further inquiries can be directed via phone at 575-201-9023 or email at annualgiving@nmsufoundation.org.
