The New Mexico State University Alumni Association has announced that nominations for the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Awards are now open. The public can submit nominations until May 15. Since its inception in 1956, over 400 Aggies have been honored with these awards, which represent the highest recognition given to NMSU alumni.

During Homecoming weekend each year, the NMSU Alumni Association presents several notable awards: the Distinguished Alumni Awards, the James F. Cole Memorial Award for Service, and the Young Alumni Service Award. Nominations are open to anyone for any living alum of NMSU. Criteria and nomination forms can be found on their website at https://alwaysanaggie.org/alumni/da-award-nomination/.

“Our Distinguished Alumni Award honorees truly embody the spirit of what it means to be an Aggie,” stated Sylvia Y. Acosta, CEO of the NMSU Foundation. “Their remarkable achievements, commitment to their communities, and dedication to making a difference reflect the values instilled at NMSU. These individuals inspire us all to dream big, serve boldly, and create lasting change in the world.”

For nearly seven decades, the Distinguished Alumni Award has recognized alumni whose accomplishments and leadership have significantly contributed to both NMSU and their communities. Six alumni are honored each year from various academic colleges at NMSU.

The James F. Cole Memorial Award for Service was established in 1966 to honor individuals or couples who have demonstrated progressive support and civic service both within NMSU and their communities. This award is open to both alumni and friends of the university.

Introduced in 2019, the Young Alumni Service Award recognizes one alum under 40 who is emerging as a professional leader while bringing distinction to NMSU through community impact.

Nominations for all awards must be submitted by May 15 via https://alwaysanaggie.org/alumni/da-award-nomination/. The awards ceremony is planned for Homecoming weekend in 2025, with guest registration details forthcoming later this year.
