Gabe Vasquez, the U.S. Representative for New Mexico’s 2nd district, has recently shared his views on several pressing issues through a series of tweets. Vasquez, who took office in 2023 after succeeding Yvette Herrell, has been vocal about matters affecting both local and national constituents.
In a tweet dated March 5, 2025, Vasquez criticized the proposal to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. He stated: "Standing ovation for cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. This means ripping away benefits that seniors and working families rely on. I won’t let Washington balance the budget on the backs of those who need it most."
On the same day at a later time, he addressed concerns over tariffs impacting agriculture in Southern New Mexico. Vasquez tweeted: "Southern New Mexico’s pecan farmers, chile growers, and small businesses depend on trade, not tariffs. The last tariff war cost our farmers millions and drove up food prices. We can’t afford another one."
Additionally, Vasquez announced an upcoming tele-town hall scheduled for March 10th through a tweet posted later that day: "I'm hosting a tele-town hall on Monday, March 10! Visit https://t.co/yoLVWuS5AS to join. I'm looking forward to answering your questions."
