The Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship at New Mexico State University's Arrowhead Center recently wrapped up the 2025 Borderplex Fundraising Sprint. The six-week accelerator aimed to guide regional startups through capital-raising challenges in collaboration with Startup Chihuahua and Startup Juárez.
Carlos Murguia, director of the Hunt Center, highlighted the program's collaborative nature, saying, “This program was built on the idea that regional collaboration fuels stronger outcomes. We were thrilled to see founders from both sides of the border actively learning, sharing insights, and preparing to access capital that can take their startups to the next level. This is the kind of cross-border synergy that builds a thriving innovation ecosystem.”
The program, which launched in early March, gathered entrepreneurs from the Borderplex and Chihuahua City region. Participants developed pitch decks, refined fundraising strategies, and expanded their understanding of financial instruments and investor expectations. The intensive schedule featured lectures, discussions, mentoring, and culminated in a virtual pitch to regional investors.
Andres Guzman, director of Startup Chihuahua, stated, “The Borderplex Fundraising Sprint, led by the Hunt Center, provided invaluable tools and opened critical pathways for early-stage startups across the region. Thanks to their leadership, entrepreneurs gained the clarity and confidence needed to engage with investors and pursue funding, outcomes that will create lasting impact in the Borderplex ecosystem.”
Alex Melendez, co-founder of Dangus, a platform for construction project management, expressed his satisfaction, saying, “The Borderplex Fundraising Sprint gave us valuable insights into how to approach investors, what materials we need to have prepared and how to negotiate effectively.”
The initiative, supported by the Municipal Government of Chihuahua and the Instituto de Apoyo al Desarrollo Tecnológico, marked a significant step in capital accessibility for regional entrepreneurs. Gabriel Omar Parra Pizarro, CEO of Lymbika, noted, "This program answers many of the questions any startup founder might have about how to launch and raise capital for their startup."
The Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship supports the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem, focusing on diverse communities and investment opportunities.
