Sandra joined Doña Ana County as a temporary Office Specialist 20 years ago. Today, she serves as a Community Outreach Specialist 1 or Promotora, in 2014, her current role.
On a regular day, Sandra manages the Vado-Del Cerro Community Center operations, communication, outreach, and program coordination. She ensures the Center runs smoothly and is an inviting facility for the community to engage. She welcomes instructors to teach classes, hosts speakers and organizes events to help meet the community’s needs.
Sandra is especially proud of knowing residents well, earning and valuing their trust. She said residents can and do call her for a variety of needs and she does whatever is within her power to connect them to resources, provide a phone number or access to helpful information.
