Doña Ana County Salutes One of Our Key Partners in Their Efforts During the COVID-19 Pandemic

This week, Doña Ana County salutes one of our key partners in their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Las Cruces Fire Department has been the main vaccinator for the homebound population both within and outside the City of Las Cruces. They have helped vaccinate over 700 people, one dose at a time. The paramedics assigned to the Homebound Program pick up the vaccine and vaccination schedule from the Department of Health, drive to each assigned residence to administer the vaccine, and stay with the patient for 30 minutes to make sure they do not have any adverse reactions. While much slower than vaccination Points of Distribution due to the driving and wait times, this outreach to patients who might not otherwise have been vaccinated, has been crucial in keeping hospitalizations and deaths low in the County.

Doña Ana County Salutes the Las Cruces Fire Department. Thank you for the special attention and care to the homebound residents of Doña Ana County!
