City Hall and most City of Las Cruces offices will close on December 25, 2024, December 26, 2024, and January 1, 2025. These closures are in observance of Christmas Day, the Winter Holiday, and New Year's Day. Emergency services such as fire and police will remain operational.
On Christmas Day, December 25, facilities including the Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center and Youth Development and Diversion Center will be closed. Waste collection services will not operate on this day; residential waste for Wednesday and Thursday will be collected on December 26.
The schedule for the Winter Holiday on December 26 shows that while some centers like Meerscheidt Recreation Center will open from 1 to 5 p.m., many others remain closed. Waste collections will proceed as usual.
For New Year's Day on January 1, all community centers, libraries, museums, and solid waste administrative offices will be closed. No commercial or residential waste collections will occur; instead, they are rescheduled for January 2.
Roadrunner Transit services are also affected during these holidays. They will not operate on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day but run regular operations on December 26.
The South Central Solid Waste Authority notes no recycling pickups on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Pickups scheduled for those days will occur the following day.
In addition to holiday schedules, the city is engaged in several initiatives such as neighborhood revitalization projects around El Paseo and S Solano corridors. The city also supports workforce development programs aimed at enhancing career opportunities for residents.
