Volunteering Can Help You Make Friends, Learn New Skills, and You Might Even Feel Happier and Healthier!

Volunteering can help you make friends, learn new skills, and you might even feel happier and healthier!
These wonderful ladies joined a sewing class at Community Resource Centers (CRCs) around Doña Ana County and decided to make quilts for children in our community. The County's Health & Human Services (HHS) Department provided them with materials such as cutting boards, scissors, fabric cutters, thread, and some sewing machines and they provided their time, effort, and kindness to this heartfelt project. Since 2021, more than 135 quilts have been handmade, and with the help of Las Colcheras Quilt Guild, donated to Jardin de los Niños
We sincerely thank everyone involved in this effort and we are proud to highlight the positive impact that our residents have in the community. Quilt donors pictured here include:
• CHAPARRAL: Lucero Betancourt, Silvia Carrasco, Maria A. Duran, Angelica Guillen, Cecilia Guzman, Hortensia Martinez, Patricia Sandoval, and Maria Vigil.
• VADO: Guadalupe Arredondo, Dolores Dorado, Maria I. Arroyo, Martha Maldonado, and Socorro Tinajero.
If you are interested in attending a sewing class, the HHS Department currently offers them at CRC's in Butterfield, Doña Ana, Delores Wright in Chaparral, and Vado/Del Cerro. Please call 575-248-0070 or 575-233-0946 for more information.
