New Mexico State University (NMSU) is offering an exciting opportunity for high school students to participate in the STEM Mavericks program this summer. The program, organized by the NMSU Physical Science Laboratory team, aims to provide students with hands-on experience in STEM fields by tackling real-world challenges related to public safety and disaster relief.
Participants in the program will receive STEM Kits and Challenges, complete with all the necessary hardware, software, and expert instruction. According to the announcement, the program is open to students from Gadsden Independent School District (GISD), Hatch Valley Public Schools (HVPS), and Las Cruces Public Schools (LCPS) who will be exiting grades 10-12 by June 2024.
Running from June 10 to June 21, 2024, the two-week camp will take place on the NMSU Main Campus from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on weekdays. While the program is free for participants, they are required to arrange their own transportation to and from the campus.
In addition to providing educational opportunities, the program also ensures that participants are well taken care of during the sessions. Lunch and snacks will be provided, and accommodations can be made for those with special dietary needs.
