The City of Las Cruces is set to unveil a new mural inside the Triviz/I-25 tunnel as part of the Keep Las Cruces Beautiful program. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024.

City Council District 1 Representative Cassie McClure and City Council District 3 Representative Becki Graham are scheduled to speak at the event. The mural stretches along a path that begins in District 1 and continues through District 3.

The project began in 2020 when Keep Las Cruces Beautiful (KLCB) collaborated with the Youth Conservation Corps to create a mural inside the Triviz/I-25 tunnel, which is traversed by the Outlet Channel Trail. Funding for this initiative was provided by YCC and the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful program. KLCB retained most of the original artwork from 2020 while adding twelve new pieces. Updates were made to include current logos for the city, state, and KLCB. The outside entrance now features local symbols from Las Cruces, while state symbols adorn the interior mural.

The mural was created by students involved in various programs such as After School, Weed and Seed, Teen Connection, Youth Development and Diversion Programs, along with members of the Las Cruces Police Department Community Outreach Unit. Partners supporting this effort include the New Mexico Department of Transportation, City of Las Cruces Public Art, and New Mexico Tourism Department Clean and Beautiful Grant.
