The Las Cruces Fire Department has dispatched a Swift Water Rescue Team and an EMS team to Roswell, New Mexico, following severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall over the weekend. The teams, consisting of five members for swift water rescue and two for emergency medical services, departed at 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 20th, arriving in Roswell by 2 p.m.
The Swift Water Rescue Team is part of the Las Cruces Fire Department's Technical Rescue Team and was deployed on Sunday evening to search areas identified as high risk. This team includes Battalion Chief Jeremiah Lay, Lt. Daniel Eckhart, Driver Operator/Paramedic Nathan Tracey, and Firefighter Paramedics Juan Joseph “YT” Ytuarte and Tyler Aguirre. The EMS team comprises Driver Operator/Paramedic James VonSchriltz and Advanced EMT Ariana Reyes.
Both teams are anticipated to return to Las Cruces by Tuesday, October 22nd.
Additionally, Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue from Las Cruces has sent a specialized team to assist in Roswell.
