The City of Las Cruces' Quality of Life Department is inviting artists to propose designs for an outdoor art piece at La Buena Vida Park, located at 3000 Buena Vida Circle. This initiative is part of the Las Cruces Public Art program, which aims to enhance the park in City Council District 2.

La Buena Vida Park is a favored spot for local residents who enjoy walking along its trails. The area includes a covered picnic space and a xeriscape that provides an ideal location for a sculpture.

The opportunity is open to individual artists and artist teams within a 150-mile radius of Las Cruces. The selection process welcomes participants irrespective of race, color, creed, gender, national origin, age, religion, marital status, political opinion or affiliation, or any mental or physical disabilities.

Applicants do not need prior experience in public art but should show expertise suitable for the project's scope and budget. A jury will review all submissions before presenting the chosen design to the City Art Board and Las Cruces City Council for final approval. The selected artist will work with the Quality of Life/LCPA program on project specifications and completion.

Details about submission are available online. For further information, interested parties can contact Ceci Vasconcellos, Public Art Coordinator at (575) 541-2780 or email [email protected].
